HEAD is pleased to announce that top ski racing star Aksel Lund Svindal has joined the HEAD Racing Team. Aksel will join Downhill World Cup champion Didier Cuche and US-Superstar Bode Miller. The Norwegian super star is going to be equipped with the entire HEAD ski, boot and binding package.
It’s tough to find another active alpine ski racer with a more impressive track record than Aksel Lund Svindal: 13 World Cup wins, two Overall World Cup titles (2007 and 2009) and four small Crystal Globes in Super G, Giant Slalom and Super Combined. He is a three times World Champion and at the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games he won the Olympic Gold Medal in Super G as well as a Silver Medal in Downhill and a Bronze Medal in Giant Slalom.
The transfer to HEAD is a huge step for Svindal: “I’ve used most of my time and energy these last three weeks gathering as much info as I possibly could before making my decision. My ski company is my most important partner, and I wanted to be sure I made the right choice no matter what direction I went. I’m now sure that I have.”. “The testing I’ve done with HEAD has been very exciting. The equipment is phenomenal and the team spirit is great – I am really excited! And Bode, Didier, Maria and Lindsey have already proved that it’s very fast!”. The more I think about it, the happier I am about joining the HEAD team.” commented Aksel Lund Svindal.
“Aksel is an outstandingly positive person, a great professional.” says Rainer Salzgeber, Director of the HEAD Race Department. “I am absolutely sure that he will be a great addition to and motivator for our entire team. His experience and ideas will help us to further improve our products. Together we have great goals!”
HEAD CEO Johan Eliasch is pleased to welcome another superstar to his already successful team: “Aksel Lund Svindal is an extraordinary athlete and great sportsman. He fits perfectly to our team and I am really pleased to have him aboard.”
